Indulge in a great local beer or two at Paradox Beer Company in nearby Divide, CO or try a cold one at BierWerks Brewery or Ute Pass Brewing Co., both in Woodland Park. They are settled in the fertile Colorado environment and are genuinely local as they harvest local, wild, and feral Brettanomyces.
Aspen and conifer forests are the most common tree species in Colorado. The gorgeous yellow hue that the aspens impart in the fall will have you coming back every year for more. Local Mueller State Park, Eleven Mile State Park, and Spinney Mountain State Park have great trails to view the local wildlife in a fantastic scenic setting.
Lake George was first developed by George Washington Frost when he moved to the area in 1886. In 1890, he began building the dam on the South Platte River at the mouth of Eleven Mile Canyon. This dam allowed Frost to create a lucrative ice cutting business, which was hand cut and needed to refrigerate produce cars on their journey to the Pike’s Peak region.
